Our Approach
Turning aging into an engine of purpose, connection, and urban design innovation
wsdm Haus explores how longevity is reshaping urban design and innovation. We study how cities and communities can turn aging into an engine of purpose, connection, and urban design innovation. Through research, storytelling, and systems design, we build practical prototypes—intergenerational housing models, brain-healthy urban spaces, longevity labs, learning journeys, and tools that help people flourish across the lifespan.
We study the cities that are getting it right: Copenhagen's cycling infrastructure, Singapore's longevity policy, Tokyo's walkable neighborhoods, Medellin's social urbanism, Barcelona's superblocks, and Vienna's social housing.
Our work distills complex urban systems into accessible primers and compelling experiences that help policymakers, urban designers, and community leaders apply these lessons in their own contexts.
Our Framework
The WSDM Lens
Four pillars that guide how we see, study, and share what makes cities wise.
The human outcome
Physical health, mental resilience, and the lived experience of thriving in a city. This is the measure that matters most.
Research Tracks
Where we focus
Our research is organized around four intersections of longevity and urban life.
Longevity +
Longevity + Places
Where you live shapes how long you live. We study the spatial, environmental, and infrastructural qualities of cities that produce the longest, healthiest lives.
Longevity +
Longevity + Performance
How well does a city perform at keeping people alive, healthy, and thriving? We measure urban systems against longevity outcomes to find what actually works.
Longevity +
Longevity + Legacy
What are we building that outlasts us? We explore how cities can design for their grandchildren—creating infrastructure, culture, and policy that endures.
Longevity +
Longevity + Connection
Social infrastructure is the strongest predictor of longevity. We research how cities foster belonging, community, and the relationships that keep people alive.
What We Build
Our Initiatives
Research is only the beginning. We translate insight into real-world experiences, communities, and frameworks.

Flagship Initiative
Longevity Table
Small curated dinners, big conversations
Intimate community dinners in cities around the world, bringing together researchers, city builders, and practitioners for candid conversations about what makes cities work.
Request an invitationThe 100-Year City
A framework for cities that endure
An ongoing research initiative developing a comprehensive framework for designing cities that thrive across generations.
Longevity Cities Network
A global community of practice
A growing network of people and organizations around the world who share a commitment to urban longevity.
Founders
wsdm Haus was founded at the intersection of longevity science and urban design—bringing together expertise in public health, brain health, dementia care, architecture, citymaking, placemaking, and livability.
Raj Ahuja
Co-Founder, wsdm Haus
WRLDCTY Fellow with a background in aging, brain health, and health systems. After a week in Copenhagen studying how urban planners, landscape architects, and public health officials shaped the built environment, Raj's perspective shifted: the most powerful longevity interventions aren't medical—they're urban.
